Racial Harmony & Worship Preparation

19 01 2008

John Piper encourages churches to not waste MLK weekend.

Those attending Grace may want to prepare your heart for tomorrow’s sermon by:

  1. Meditating through Acts 10-11.
  2. Attending the hour of corporate prayer from 9-10.
  3. Repenting from mono-cultural pride and improper views of God.
  4. Praying specifically for the salvation of persons of another race/ethnicity.
  5. Listening to Michael Campbell’s sermon: “Sacrificing Self: The Mulit-Ethnic Church and the Mandate of the Gospel” which was delivered at the 2006 Desiring God Pastor’s Conference themed: “How Must a Pastor Die: The Cost of Caring Like Jesus.”

Thanking God for Acts 11:18

19 01 2008

Acts 11:18 When they heard this, they quieted down and glorified God, saying, “Well then, God has granted to the Gentiles also the repentance that leads to life.”

It has been worshipful this morning for April and I to thank God that ‘He has granted to the Gentiles also the repentance that leads to life.‘  Praying for you today JT as you prepare to lead us in exulting in God through the scriptures tomorrow and praying that God, in similar kindness that He has given us in repentance from sin and turning to God; woud be pleased to grant it tomorrow.
